Reading the Footnotes:

There are two distinct types of information that can be contained in an SBL document's footnotes.

First, the footnotes can contain additional information the author has included. [This is demonstrated in example 1.1 with the “special thanks” and Toohey additional resource]

Second, the footnotes more commonly contain reference information for any external resources. [This is demonstrated in example 1.1 with the Campbell reference]
