Interlibrary Loan is a service available to current NCU Students, Staff, and Faculty. To locate a physical item or an article that is not owned by T.J. Jones Library, start by searching the library catalog (Jones Search).
On the left-hand menu under "Held By Library," select "Libraries Worldwide" instead of "T.J. Jones Library" in order to see options from other libraries.
Click on the item's title to open the item record.
Under "Access Options," select "Request item through Interlibrary Loan."
Fill out the required fields with your name, Patron ID number (this is the same as your NCU ID number and must include the zero at the beginning followed by the six-digit ID number), and your NCU email address. You must use your NCU email address when requesting an item via Interlibrary Loan. Click "Submit" to complete your request. Please note that we cannot guarantee an item's arrival by the "Needed before" date.
You will receive a hold notification email when your item arrives. Items on hold, including Interlibrary Loans, expire after four business days, so please pick up your items as soon as possible.
Requested journal articles will be sent directly to your NCU email along with instructions on how to download the article as a PDF file.
If you have any questions regarding how to submit an Interlibrary Loan request, please reach out to our Interlibrary Loan team at interlibraryloan@northcentral.edu or call 612-343-4492.
Current NCU Students, Staff, and Faculty may also submit ILL requests via Request Form.
Request Forms (also called Form Stacks) are used to place online interlibrary loan requests through the various databases to which T.J. Jones Library is subscribed.
To complete an ILL Request Form, information about the article or periodical is required. By clicking on the article title, you will open the information page. Any and all information necessary to complete the ILL Request Form is included on the information page.
Clicking on "Get Full-Text via Interlibrary Loan" opens the Request Form. Fill out each category with as much accurate information as possible. Begin with your name, student email, student ID number, and the type of material you are requesting.
Once you have filled out each field with as much information as possible, you are ready to submit your request.
Print items may take up to a week (sometimes longer) to arrive. Once received, you will receive an email notifying you that the item is ready to be picked up.
Articles are often received within 48 hours of submitting a request. An email will be sent to your NCU email address that contains a link and password that will allow you to download your article as a PDF. Your article is now ready to read!
Please contact the ILL team at interlibraryloan@northcentral.edu if you have any questions regarding your request.
