What is a citation style?

A citation style is defined as a set of guidelines that describe how to cite sources, specifically in the context of academic writing.

Citation is always required whenever a writer quotes, paraphrases, or summarizes a source to avoid plagiarism.

Which citation style should I use?

APA Style

The American Psychological Association (APA) Style is most commonly utilized in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Business, and other social sciences. 

MLA Style

The Modern Language Association (MLA) Style is most commonly utilized in the Humanities, such as English Literature, Languages, and Communications. 

SBL Style

The Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) Style is most commonly utilized in Biblical and Theological Studies.

Note: Some subjects vary in the style that they use. Always verify the citation style a professor requires for a class or assignment.
